Install tritonctl
This guide installs tritonctl, the Triton Cloud command line, on your
workstation. The installer needs no root access and puts one file in your home
directory.
Install
In a terminal:
curl -fsSL https://tritoncloud.io/install.sh | sh
The installer picks the build for your operating system and processor, checks
its SHA-256 digest against the release manifest, and copies tritonctl to
~/.local/bin. It prints the installed version and the next command to run.
| Operating system | Processors |
|---|---|
| macOS | Apple silicon, Intel |
| Linux | x86-64, ARM64 |
The Linux builds are statically linked and run on any distribution.
To read the script before it runs, download it first:
curl -fsSL https://tritoncloud.io/install.sh -o install.sh
less install.sh
sh install.sh
Put tritonctl on your PATH
If ~/.local/bin is not on your PATH, the installer prints this line. Add it
to your shell profile, for example ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc:
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
Open a new terminal and check the install:
tritonctl --version
Choose a different channel or directory
The installer reads these environment variables:
| Variable | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
TRITON_CHANNEL | preview | Release channel to install from. preview is the only channel published today. |
TRITON_INSTALL_DIR | ~/.local/bin | Directory the binary is copied into. |
TRITON_CHANNEL_URL | None | Full URL of a release manifest. Overrides TRITON_CHANNEL. |
Set them on the sh side of the pipe:
curl -fsSL https://tritoncloud.io/install.sh | TRITON_INSTALL_DIR="$HOME/bin" sh
The installer creates the directory if it is missing. You need write access to it.
Update or remove
Run the install command again to update. The new binary replaces the old one.
To remove tritonctl, delete the binary and its configuration directory:
rm ~/.local/bin/tritonctl
rm -r ~/.config/triton/tritonctl
On macOS the configuration directory is
~/Library/Application Support/triton/tritonctl instead.
If the install fails
| Message | Cause |
|---|---|
no tritonctl build for <OS>/<ARCH> | Your platform is not in the table above. |
sha256 mismatch | The download was corrupted or altered. Nothing was installed. Run the command again; if it repeats, report it. |
no <CHANNEL> channel is published | TRITON_CHANNEL names a channel with no release. Unset it to use preview. |
